Nondiscriminatory Policy

Policy:

The Surgery Center at Cranberry (the “Center) shall comply with the provisions of the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other applicable statutes regarding discrimination and all requirements imposed pursuant thereto to the end that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, religious creed, sexual orientation, disability, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by federal, state or local law, be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits of, or otherwise be subject to discrimination in the provision of any care or service at the Center.

Operational Procedure:

  1. Outpatient admission or care at the Center shall be nondiscriminatory and based entirely upon the ability of it’s medical staff to provide safe and medically necessary services consistent with the state laws and regulations and contingent upon the Center’s adequate facilities, equipment, and number and types of qualified support personnel.
  2. Segregation of the Center’s operational areas such as waiting room, changing rooms, operating and procedure rooms and recovery bays for reasons of race, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, religion, handicap or disability is strictly prohibited.
  3. Staff assignments at the Center are made in accordance with this nondiscriminatory policy.
  4. Disparities in medical care based on immutable characteristics such as race are unjustifiable and will not be tolerated by the Center.
  5. Any employee or staff member in violation of the Center’s nondiscriminatory policy will be subject to the appropriate disciplinary and corrective action as outlined in the employee handbook and medical staff bylaws.
  6. This nondiscriminatory policy also applies to the Center’s hiring of employees and its credentialing of medical staff.

Language Assistance:

The Center provides free aids and services to people with disabilities to communicate effectively with us, such as:

  • Qualified sign language interpreters
  • Written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, other formats)

Provides free language services to people whose primary language is not English, such as:

  • Qualified interpreters
  • Information written in other languages

If you need these services, contact the Center’s Facility Administrator.

If you believe the Center has failed to provide these services or discriminated in another way on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex, you can file a grievance with:
